Session 1 - Introduction to camera control

This introduction session will introduce you to the DSLR camera and the importance of reading light, composition and exposure. You will take some photographs in RAW format and then bring them back to the ‘digital darkroom’ for processing.

Session 2 - What is a Photobook?

In this session we will review the images from the previous week and do some basic Photoshop editing. We’re also going to look at some photobooks and talk about how we can tell stories through the medium of photography.

Session 3 - Introduction to Photoshop

This week is about refining your camera control technique, reviewing the images you have already made and more Photoshop editing.

Session 4 - Editing, sequencing and narrative
Saturday 7 March 2015
11:00am - 4:00pm

This week is dedicated to editing, sequencing, layout and preparing your files for print. You will be introduced to colour management, colour space and soft proofing. We’ll talk about the print process and look at different paper stock for your final book.

Session 5 - Photobook construction

11:00am - 4:00pm

Daniel and Michelle will join us this week for a fun-filled book binding session. This week will see the culmination of your efforts as you learn different stitching and binding techniques. Daniel will also tell us about the Asia-Pacific Photobook Archive, where the books will be exhibited.

Session 6 - Online publishing and celebration

11:00am - 4:00pm

In our final week, we ‘go digital’ and look at different options for online publishing. This is also the official launch party and celebration.
